On top of the world!

Updated: Jul 21, 2018

France knock off Croatia to win their second ever World Cup.

We take a look at the young player of the tournament and everything he did for France.

Kylian Mbappe: The young player of the tournament award winner, became the first teenager to score in a World Cup final since Pelé. When Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi retire, Mbappe will be the golden star of soccer. Despite being just 19 years old, he has already played in 21 international matches and scored seven goals (four of which came at this World Cup). But Mbappe is not just someone who does well with elite teammates, he is one of the reasons they are elite. With his blazing speed he can create something out of nothing. Just to show how vital he is to their team, look at his knock out round matches:

First Round vs. Argentina - Mbappe draws penalty in eleventh minute, scores to give France 3-2 lead in the 64th minute and then scores the match winner of a thrilling game in the 68th minute. He also won the man of the match.

Quarterfinal vs. Uruguay - Maybe Mbappe's weakest game of the tournament. France survive 2-0 in a tough fought match.

Semi Final vs. Belgium - Although Mbappe didn't score, he fed in a few gorgeous passes for breakaways. One to Bejamin Pavard, and then later to Olivier Giroud, showing that he is not one dimensional, and also showing off his incredible vision. France move on 1-0.

Final vs. Croatia - As if becoming the youngest player to score in a World Cup Final isn't impressive enough, Mbappe threatened the Croatian defense all night long, creating chance after chance with his incredible speed. France win the World Cup Final 4-2.
